Dr. Weiss earned his PhD in Neuroscience and Neurobiology from the University Joseph Fourier (France), where he also obtained his MS in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and his BS in Cellular Biology and Physiology. Prior to become independent scientist, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University Claude Bernard (France) on the physiopathology of skeletal muscle calcium channels, and at the University of Calgary (Canada) in the lab of Dr. Gerald Zamponi on the physiopathology of T-type calcium channels where he was nominated Postdoctoral Research Fellow of the Year. He is expert in molecular and electrophysiological techniques combined with pharmacological approaches. Additionally, he is an associate editor at
Channels and serves as reviewer for several leading scientific peer-reviewed journals and grant agencies, and co-edited a seminal textbook on the
Pathologies of Calcium Channels.
